To get an idea how insignificant people are in the grand scheme of the earth (this is moderately gruesome):

If all of the blood in all the people on earth were poured into the Dead Sea, the level would rise about 1.2" (3 cm).

If all of the people on earth were thrown into the Dead Sea--or, slightly less gruesome, caught swimming there--the level would rise 2 feet (61 cm).
