Jack's three days in the hospital...
(Edited title, original was a bit dramatic
)
Sat Oct 23:
Went to museum with friends. In one of the more confined exhibits, I had a panic attack, and started feeling nauseated. Ran out of the exhibit where I along the way, when I was rushing through a small crowd of people, I nearly fainted.
Recovered once I was outside and didn't think much of it.
Sun Oct 24:
Crapped blood all day (any normal person would be worried by now, but I thought I'd see if it would go away).
Mon Oct 25:
Went to work as normal, but felt unusually breathless/tired by the time I got to my office (my commute consists of a 5 minute walk to the train station, 30 minutes on the train, and another 10 minutes walk after). Heart also beating like crazy.
The rest of my work day was normal.
Tue Oct 26:
Same thing in the morning, except I felt *very* breathless/tired etc. I had a meeting in the morning, where I couldn't focus very well. The rest of my work day went fairly uneventfully.
I decided that I would see a doctor Wednesday, but my parents called from Malaysia, and my sister (who's a pharmacist) from Singapore insisting that I go to the ER right away. I didn't really see what the big deal was, but since my family took the trouble to call from half way around the world, I took their advise, thinking the doctors would give me some medicine, and I can go home in a few hours...
I ended up staying for 3 days
.
It turned out I had lost half my red blood cells, they had to transfuse 4 pints of blood into me. Tests determined that I had some internal bleeding going on in my stomach, though I'm still not sure what caused it in the first place.
Now the big question is:
What would have happened if my parents hadn't called, and I had waited a day later to go to the hospital?

Thanks mom!

I was discharged a few hours ago. My blood level is back to normal now, and the red blood cells are regenerating at a healthy rate (indicating that the internal bleeding has stopped).
The doctor prescribed some medicine to reduce my acid secretion, and asked me to eat more regularly. The funny thing though, is that I don't remember eating less regularly than usual the past couple of week.
I was under some (self induced...
) stress the past couple of weeks though, and I guess that's a potential cause for ulcers.
