The opening sentence of Homer's Odyssey, which included arguably the most powerful, certainly the most onamatapoetic, phrase in literary history, "Rododoktulos eregenaia aeon.....," "The rosy fingered early borne dawn.....," (which described the aesthetic environment encountered by Odysseus and his troops upon awakening in the morning the after the Trojan Horse entrance, sacking and pillaging Troy, and subsequent Dionsysian bacchanal), also employed the word "gnothe."
