i find that i don't take my laptop many places though need to get a sleeve and a bag i suppose.

What I meant is that laptops just don't hold up, Ninh. They're basically designed to fail over a multi-year lifetime. I can't tolerate that. Gimme a tower any day, though I won't dispute the convenience of the laptop.

Yeah, I tried carrying a tower with a 15" CRT around with me once. That was a pain.

Why don't you get your company to make a fault tolerant laptop, Chaz?

Actually, an old laptop I have (bought in 97) is still running pretty strong (though it does have some problems). It was made by Digital Equipment Corp., and pretty much outlived its manufacturer.

It's a little too slow for Windows, so I installed Linux on it and run a few simple network services on it (back up DNS in case my ISP's go down, web server, proxy etc).
