Battery life is probably the worst offense with these suckers. After two years with one of my HPs, I was down to 10 minutes on the battery. But, that's hardly the end of it. The A/C power converters are notorious for wearing out, the displays dim, the hard disks die... The list continues.

The reason for this is both planned obsolescence and the fact that these things don't dissipate heat well. I suspect the reason M chipsets from Intel help the situation, but I'm not convinced.
