Dr Thomas Mutter was a professor of surgery at Jefferson medical college from 1841 to 1856, over the course of his career Dr Mutter collected a vast array of anatomical and pathological specimans and models, three years before his death he presented his collection to the College of Physicians, also added to this collection were many specimans from abroad such as a collection of 138 skulls from Viennese anatomist Joseph Hyrtl.
a plaster cast of the enjoined bodies of the original "Siamese " twins Chang and Eng, the skeletons of a 7'6" giant and a 3'6" dwarf, several thousand bones and fluid preserved specimans, 200 wax models, and much much more, all this and a woman from the 19th century whose body turned to soap..**
