The guy's nails. He eats the black peppers in Chinese food by the spoonful. When he built the gazebo in our back yard, he drank two cases of beer a day.

The Peleliu is on deployment in the Gulf. It returns to san Diego in August.

I've seen a Harrier take off vertically from the deck of the Peleliu.

 

I've seen them take off vertically from a runway 100' in front of me. Pretty damn cool! Capability wise, they are V/STOL, but operationally they're STOVL because it's too wasteful to take off vertically.

 

Right. VTOL from the Peleliu because it has a shorter flight deck than a carrier.
