My freshman year in college my roommate ran out of tuition money halfway through the year so I had the room to myself. I, too, had the beds shoved together and my place was usually unlocked and became the "crash pad" for wayward people. I can't tell you how many mornings I woke up with some female complete stranger in my bed who'd gone out partying with my friends and either came in after I'd gotten home and passed out or was already there when I showed up and just didn't notice...
