Default Random I-pod Question

just got my ipod yesterday. i'm of course in the process of loading all my shit loads of cds onto it anyways, i'm hoping my thinking before buying this was correct. if not oh well, but the reason i bought it was to condense all my cds and also delete the music off my computer once it gets uploaded just to save space. is that possible? if i delete it off of itunes will it delete out of the ipod? if it doesn't i can at least play the music from my ipod in my computer correct without having the actual songs uploaded to the computer?

thanks for reading

Make sure that you do not have iTunes sync'd to your iPod. Otherwise, if you delete stuff out of the library, the next time you hook up your iPod, the program will go, "Oh, these songs are no longer in the library... so I'll delete them off the iPod."

I delete all the songs off my hard drive, too... just make sure you have a backup on disc somewhere or you'll be very sad if your iPod's hard drive ever gets corrupted

Yes, you can still play your iPod through iTunes even if the songs on your iPod are not in the iTunes library (meaning: not on your hard drive).
