I've actually driven a 789 before. It was loaded down to Gross - 350 tons. Pretty

Most of the info is just being in the industry combined with being a huge dork.

Right now, I'm noting that Cat no longer sells C16s, but you can spec a C15 ACERT up to 625 Hp/2050 lb-ft.
Right now, the C16 is what was in our tractor - one haulin' mo fo I could have 3 cars, spare engines, tools, shock dyno, welders in the trailer and that thing would still pull over 100 mph

Nearly any tractor today can be geared to do 100+. It's just that the 12 and 13 Liter ones tend to take a long time to accelerate to that.

One of the mechanics here worked at a Volvo dealer for many years... he said he routinely rigged trucks to run 115-125 for guys that did the west coast swing - meaning they're running within a few lbs of GCWR and running hammer down the whole time... I think most of those had Series 60s or C16s.

Which is why I rarely talk about what I do with women. I just tell them I'm an engineer and get a decent paycheck every week, and leave it at that.

I've spent my entire life living multiple lives, Jeff. The stuff I do at work has always been utterly, completely incomprehensible to my family and especially my music buddies. Some of my friends are computer folks, so I can geek out with them, but normally I don't discuss stuff.

I've always found it important, socially, to have music and sports (back when I was not a desk potato) to talk about.

Anyway, I know how you feel.
