KEN! - which ps3 do you have, I understand that the 40 has the smaller die chip in it and runs cooler (i.e. it's quieter) but I guess the 80's are supposed to go to the smaller die, hopefully becoming quieter as well. do you know about this? noise is a factor for me. my dvr is loud enough already... i guess vhs was always loud when playing... damn heat...

Mine is a 1st gen 60gb model with hardware emulation for older PS games. The newer models have software emulation for older games. I'm not sure about the newer models, but my PS3 is silent running. Especially compared to the 360. The 360 is noisy as hell when spinning a disc.

I'd have a tendancy to get the 80gb model... just for the extra disk space and double the USB slots. 40gb seems small these days with all the downloadable content. I'd have a 1TB model if they made one. I'd love to upload ALL my music CDs. Instead I'm very selective about what I upload. Also, I'm not sure how much disc space PS Home will take up when it's released.
