The Semi-Official Hockey Thread...
IMO, the blame rests solely on the owners at this juncture. I thought the players gave a huge chunk back with their flatrate 24% cut. That's a lot of money back. The owners have done nothing in kind. I sympathize with the players because there are a lot of them (the majority) who are making sacrifices and playing for fractions of what they made before. Yeah, it's still good coin, but it's a huge hit if you're sitting on a $2 million mortgage (unlikely to sell it on short notice) and have 2 or 3 kids in private schools.
I agree it was a huge sacrifice for the players to offer that cut - I know I sure as hell wouldn't accept a pay cut at all, let alone that percentage. (Oh what the hell am I saying? I can't pretty much guarantee that would never happen in my job.)
Still, I have a hard time feeling sorry for the players, given the nature of their work compared to others, but that's a whole other thread!

Well Mom, I'm admittedly not a diehard hockey fan, but if I'm rooting for anyone, it's the Leafs. And when the time comes for them to be eliminated in playoffs, I just keep rooting for whatever Canadians team(s) are left!

I swtich off or BANDWAGON as its called
but I DO likie lil MARTY and I will ALLWAY'S be on his team
The correct order for rooting for teams is:
1) Go Leafs Go!
2) Any Canadian team if the leafs are eliminated.
3) Any original six team if there are no Canadian Teams
4) The underdog if there are no Canadian teams or original six.
