Pretty sure the Vanc Millionaires were never NHL though... they were Pacific Hockey league in the 20's
Couldn't translate fan support into money. Remember the cost of living in Winnepeg is pretty low... Players want $US and the people couldn't justify paying $50 for a ticket.
