The Semi-Official Hockey Thread... Hat trick!
K so during the Penguin/Capitals game twice a shtick broke and was lying there on the ice. I think that seems odd that they don't REMOVE IT like throw a puck/flag down or sumtin
time out type dealio??? Guess its not like they arent gonna get hurt JUST playing the
game butt the broken shtick deal confuses me
I DO recall the ONE & only Sharkies game I attended while viewing Marty thru the glass I saw one JAMMED into a crack in the wall
and again though man thats
dangerous

Players are not allowed to play with a broken stick. They must immediately drop it or receive a 2 minute minor. I don't know the exact history, but once a stick breaks it's basically a spear which could cause a lot of harm but is useless for playing the puck; thus drop it or else.
Refs and linesmen are allowed to pick up the broken stick and toss it to the player's bench, but they're not REQUIRED to and most simply leave it on the ice until the next whistle, especially at higher levels (game moves too fast to spend the time leaning over to pick it up). Players are allowed to sweep a broken stick away (usually if it breaks in front of their own net) as long as the sweeping process does not hinder opponents' skating or the movement of the puck, however if the play is in their zone, the only safe play is just to leave it sit there.

Canucks fan huh
yeah the boy knows his game prolly from all his playtime & he's not even Canadian
^yep, hard not to be growing up in VanCity! Seattle needs a team now to help build up some PNW rivalry!
There are/was lots of great American players. I used to love watching Pat Lafontaine play and, like him or not, Ryan Kesler's not too shabby either; I thought he played awesome in the gold medal game during the Olympics.
