Stanley Cup just got unloaded from the truck...

Side note - Chris Pronger does not deserve to lift it!!!
How can a guy take 2 head-hunting, intent-to-injure penalties, in 2 series in a row, and only get 1-game suspensions!?
What a dirty, piece of shit player!!

There have been far dirtier, far less skilled players who had long careers and whose names are on the cup...

Interesting thought... had Ottawa won, I wonder if Schubert would get a 1 game suspension for running Beauchemin (who was fairly prone and trying to play the puck) and hitting him in the head with his elbow during the second period? I somehow doubt it. The NHL and its refs need to make up their mind on elbows to the head. I saw 5 or 6 clean elbow/forearm hits to the head during game 5 and only 1 was called.

Wow!! What an experience! The Pond last night was buzzing like I have never seen in the last 13 seasons!!! ...just amazing!!

One thing that was disappointing, was the NBC coverage at the beginning!!! I was VERY disappointed when I got home and watched the replay. I can't believe they cut away during the singing of the national anthem!! They had a US Marine come out to sing, half way through the crowd took over. I know this is a regular thing for Canadians, But it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up!!! I have never seen this at a hockey game in The US!!

Here is a video of it..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF-6_I9gL-4

NBC was really hit or miss with their coverage. I think they had different editors for the 3 games. Game 3 they stayed with both anthems, game 4 they didn't show either, and game 5 they cut in the middle. I really wish they'd stick with the anthems, especially in places like Philly and Ottawa where they have great "house" anthem singers. I think Edmonton (or maybe it's Calgary) has a guy who does an amazing Oh Canada. There's plenty of time to run commercials, save the 3 minutes it takes for the two anthems. It's even worse when they cut the anthems out just to have the talking heads "analyze" the pre-game.

Free Agency (sucks)!

Buffalo loses their two captains - Briere to Philly (8 years, $52M) and Drury to the Rangers (5 years, $35M). Rangers also snag Gomez from the Devils ( ) at 7 years/$51.5M. Devils also lost Rafalski to the Wings. Ryan Smyth (Avs) and Jason Blake (Maple Goons) flee the cesspool known as the Nassau Coliseum - Islanders now have nothing to show for their trade for Smyth.

Petr Sykora and Darryl Sydor sign on with the Penguins. Kariya goes to the Blues ( ).
