Edmonton Oilers trade Chris Pronger to Anaheim

EDMONTON (CP) - The Edmonton Oilers have granted Chris Pronger his wish. The star defenceman is headed to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks after being traded for forward Joffrey Lupul, a prospect and three draft picks, a source tells The Canadian Press.

Pronger helped lead the Oilers to the Stanley Cup final this season, where they lost in seven games to the Carolina Hurricanes.

He stunned the team by asking for a trade after the final for personal reasons.

Pronger signed a $31.25-million US, five-year contract with the Oilers last summer.

Lupul scored 28 goals with 25 assists for the Mighty Ducks last year.

Yzerman had a great career. Guaranteed first ballot hall of famer, and a model for all kids who play sports.

Jaroslav Spacek left Edmonton to sign with the Sabres

Flames signed Jeff Friesen

Canucks have now dealt away about 7 players, and have only picked up 2.

Hopefully they will have money in their budget now to resign Anson Carter... that guy was a machine for them last year!

Still need to pick up another good forward to play with Marcus Naslund.

It's looks like they will be bringing quite a few guys up from the farm team this year... and maybe even starting Luc Bourdon off in the NHL without even playing him in the minors.
