Unfortunately, he played last year for $1 mil. But he had a career year, and now he wants to be earning the $3 mil/year he used to earn years ago, so he is shopping around to find a team that is willing to pay him that.
Canucks don't have that kind of cap room left (especially after signing Luongo), which is why he hasn't been signed yet. But other teams realize that the reason he had a career year is because he was playing with the Sedins, who can essentially set-up anyone in front of the net
