Semi-Official I'm Thread LVIII
I ‘m noting that earlier today I was doing my job and I get a text from one of my customers asking what time do I work until. I said 3:45pm - she said what do you want from Starbucks? I said the strawberry açaí drink.
About 20 minutes or so later , she came in, handed it to me and gave one of the best hugs ever. She started shopping and I said I’ll be with you in about 10 mins, management came over to me and said ‘ Dave - how do you do this??? I just said people like me, I have relationships with customers. They said ‘can you teach other coworkers how to do that?’ I said sure.
I’ m a firm believer in that once you do something nice for a person, you are going to have a customer/ friend for life. It doesn’t take much effort at all.

“ My favorite bagger at the Casselberry Publix and I have worked our way up from me demonstrating the drag queen pageant wave with him as he taught someone else in line last year, to fist bumps, and today he got a side hug lol. He held his arms out when he saw me last week but put them down before I got close enough to decide if I was ok going in for the hug.
Today he lit up when he saw me and said “bring it in!” I thought you know what, I don’t hug enough people and maybe he doesn’t either.
Publix— where shopping brings unexpected human connections
I gotta figure out who his drag persona is.…“
