growing up in California, I always wanted to be a cop. I tossed around other ideas, among them: firefighter, civil engineer, truck driver, camera man and gave very serious thought to becoming an auto mechanic or architect. I love cars and drafting. But those ideas came and went and this one has always stayed. Honestly, the only reason why I joined the Navy was for the training and educational benefits. I wasn't planning on staying past my first enlistment but they hung that $37,500 tax free bonus and 4 years of shore duty carrot in front of me so I took it. I don't regret it either but at the same time I will not re-up my contract. I do however plan on staying an active reservist to keep some of the benefits.
