My firm belief is that, with the exception of interstate fundraisers in Ohio, most cops will reciprocate your attitude - if you're a dick, expect to get treated like shit. Most cops despise traffic duty. The few that are on ego trips, you go to court, fight the ticket, and file a complaint with the officer's PD. Dunno... maybe I've just been fortunate

I'm agreeing with WSB about being cordial. It has worked for me. I can't imagine Robbie being uncordial, I guess just unlucky. Hopefully any future run in's with the fuzz for him will be more pleasant.
