I'm amused by comments like, "I think she'd be perfect for you.. Her brother is into cars"

I'm in contact with a new person at Allstate...who seems genuinely concerned about getting everything resolved. Hope springs eternal...

I'm riding a road bike (Felt F95) and I really am impressed with it... I wanted something reliable and I have a bike shop nearby that will take care of me...

Even this past weekend, I didn't feel very comfortable in the stop-and-go environment of the 5 Boro Tour on clipless pedals... I emailed them and they had me come out there with the bike and swaped me out with some basic pedals... then did some minor adjustments to the bars and the brakes and i was on my way..

Today, I went back to the store and they swapped out the pedals, they adjusted my handlebars slightly to better my riding position and cleaned the bike up a bit for me..

Cost.. $0..
I'm actually enrolled in their maintenance class as well....which also happens to be free.

I'm already looking at signing up for 2011 for a Washington DC tour on bike. 2012 will most likely be Montreal.
DC tour? I'm IN!!!

I'm different from you in that I LOVE riding in stop-and-go city-type traffic on clipless pedals on my road bike. I run Speedplay Frog mountain bike pedals and they are fantasticly easy to get in and out of in any and all conditions.

I'm going to look at some options as well... One thing I did realize this past weekend was the need for gloves... I have bruises on both palms...
I ride with Fox full-finger gloves. Light weight and good for the weather we have out here. However, I'd probably recommend something more padded, as the Fox Digits are single layer synthetic leather with no added padding.

I'm back on clipless pedals now so I'm going to force myself to be used to it... Next weekend we are thinking about doing another ride so I better get used to it sooner than later!

Drinking is my justification for cycling... oh wait.. maybe it's the the other way around..

DC is a quick 19 miles.... of course I'll be stopping here and there to snap some photos though

This was NY on Sunday
