I've had really good luck with Kenwood (regular and Excelon) and Alpine amps. Will never touch another Sony in my life. RF amps are like JL, really good but you take it up the ass.
I have never had good luck with the Japanese companies for amps (and wouldn't touch most of their speakers ) but they make nice headunits. on RF, I had 2 punch series amps in my Lude and they were great but not cheap.

Who did you mean by Japanese companies? Almost all the major players are Japanese... unless you spend big bucks.

Alpine, Sony and the like..the major electronic players typically excel at head-units, not speakers and/or amps. Just my opinion of course YMMV

I like to stick with companies that specialize in amps. JL, RF, Zapco etc...sure it costs more upfront and I know most of them are owned by Japanese parent companies these days, but I still think you will have less trouble with one of them. IMO of course...YMMV

I probably have different expectations than you, too.

After all it is all about your expectation level.

i won't buy a sony amp either...
i just can't justify putting a JL amp in my civic... the 300x4 amp, if i were to get one, would go in the S... i just haven't gone the modding s2000 route yet..(at least sound wise)..i want to do a few other things with the S first.

I believe the Infinitys like lots of power ...clean power...stick with a name brand AMP. JL's seem to be popular and fairly bulletproof. IN a SUV you should have no problems under a seat rail or if the seat lifts up stuff it in there.

So no sub?
no sub. The 6x9's will suffice for awhile. I'm keeping everything in stock locations because the truck is used for camping and such, and there isn't an extra spot for a sub without major surgery. It doesn't need to rock the block, just needs to rock and not suXX0r.

do i run an amp for the fronts and one for the rear? a 4 channel to all four? will that be a compromise for 2 speakers in terms of power they get? what the fock? mike-AAAYY!!!
