I went to 256 AAC, you don't take much of a hit on size

Mp3 or AAC?

I find AAC to be better SQ

Man that would be a big job to re-ripp everything. I am lazy! So far it sounds good, but its not hooked up anywhere with critical speakers..yet.

So where do you keep your iTunes library? On a backup drive?

yes. double backed on an internal, and external. Have my itunes library networked so all laptops in the house have wireless access to the big library. One laptop is dedicated to my home system.

40 gig & olde 20 gig ipod for car uses. weekly updates to each. keeps the tunes fresh.

works good.

I have an external firewire array. Very nice. 280 gigs.

192 is terrible, but 256 is better. As far as I can tell you just get less mud with low frequencies and less crap in the highs (which seems more noticeable, too me)
