Aslo Billy,

Got think about my previous post, if you don't know of a "shared resource" on your computer, you can always use this:

"computer"c$

"c$" is a share that is automatically put on your hard drive. The "$" in the share name makes it invisible. It won't show up on a browse list. By default it's locked down to admins only.

XP's firewall is off. Actually, I wonder if I turned the browsing service off (or didn't turn it on), which would explain why the server can't see itself. I'll try the traditional mapping procedure when I get home Luke, I didn't think of it last night.

Computer names are Deli and Games, workgroup is WSDeli - nothing that should cause a problem.

Good luck, Billy! If you can't see shares by typing name at run, then something is wrong, as you said.

I'm not familiar with workgroups, only domains.

I thought of one other thing, Billy. You might run into network problems with XP if you don't have an Administrator password. Just another wild thought.

Too bad you aren't local man! I'd swing by and straighten it out for you.

The browser service is on by default and a computer should always be able to see itself.

I've been tempted to do the former, but not the latter.

Thanks for the offer. The bad thing is that I'm usually the one to fix my friends' problems. This one is utterly perplexing to me though, especially considering the simplicity of doing it with 2K as the server.

I've actually been tempted to get a Mac, but can't justify the cost right now.
