Good to hear about the engine swap.

The 2.2L was a tasty friend. . .

Anyway, great that it's going to be healed soon, J. Can't see ANY way that the bottom end could've been repaired.

Of course.... but when you coming....

Chaz, Its I think an '04. It is one of the train wreck engines...but I did not get the tranny. Don't need it there's nothing wrong with mine anyway. Alot of people have had the oil pump do damage...I'd replace it anyway... I'm getting new a/c as well and alot of other new parts. I'll be fixing my exhaust finally and my BuddyClubs will be on before I roll her out.

I will have break in period again and I'm going to have to document the mileage since I'm keeping my ECU. Who wants 8k anyway
Keeping the ECU. Brilliant! You should have an easy swap in, then, with the MY04 engine, J. I suspect brand new ones would be more of a challenge.

Interesting that you got one from the train wreck. How'd you finagle that? That was a while ago; I figured all those had been scrapped of sent back to Japan. Guess not!

Yeah, that's the thing. I think the 9K engines are still built (new) in Japan as 2.0L, and they're being exported to Europe and a few other places, but they use the same block (I think). The advantage there is that the newer engines are honed better and don't burn oil as much has the original AP1s.

Actually HTG bought them all up and sold them off b/c there was no damage. The guy I got it from put the trans in but never put the engine in... He wanted to sell and I needed to buy

My friend actually found the deal for me. Peeps are good for looking out

That's great, J. Best wishes. And thanks for posting all the pix! It's amazing to look at that damage.
