Today I managed to drop my phone in the snow before getting in my car to go to work. Found it 3 hours later with ice stuck to it.

Today, my son got his "full" drivers license whoo hoo !.

It is quite the process in our region to get a license as a new driver well over 2.5 years. He had to start with a beginner's license, which occurred after taking a driver's Ed course, and in-car driving lessons. With the beginners he could only drive with a licensed adult driver in the car. The beginners required a written test which is quite challenging even for seasoned drivers, quite a few people fail their first attempt. He then graduated to a secondary license where he could drive alone but under strict conditions, that required passing an in-car driving test. Today he got his full license and is no longer under any restrictions, he passed a second in-car test that included highway driving.

Insurance costs have been crazy high, but they will drop as of today by a bit. He has zero accidents or tickets in almost 3 years of driving, so we are proud. He gets emotional when it comes to events like this, as he gets a bit of anxiety and over-thinks/stresses a bit too much. I
t is such a relief for all of us, a great way to end the year.

CONGRATS to your Son Joe
Sounds like the way ours got their licenses years ago in WA State where we lived. Same process basicaly.
I will say sometimes when your the passenger as they learn and we had a Chevy Tahoe which was NOT the easiest to get into those lined parking spots

All 3 of mine did the acquire theirs though no problem 2 had the course in HS and youngest did a driving school.

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah we had some close calls when he was learning early in the process and I was the passenger, and people are honking behind you lol. But he has been safe so far so that is good.

On a side note I bought a manual transmission Honda Civic Si in December, and it only took two short training sessions for my son to learn how to drive stick on this car. We went out for about 60 minutes on each drive and that was all he needed to learn. I've had some hair raising experiences teaching others to drive stick , but my son grasped it really fast, so double proud.

Today I can tell you that I taught 2 of mine and one of their to drive a stick. I had to learn from my Uncle when I was young since I wanted to buy a Bug and well he had a Datsun Pickup & taught me, I recall a few 's shed as he was not real patient and ed a few times
which is why I WAS very patient with the boys and they all did great! Such a great feeling when you finally get the syncing of the clutch like when you learned to ride a bike and your Dad or Mom finally lets GO!
