I hear you... Clearly, it had nothing to do with the 13th!!
Hey, here's an interesting one for you... A few weeks ago, when my sis ran the NYC marathon, we stayed in a hotel downtown which actually had a 13th floor. That, my friend, is highly unusual in Manhattan. Almost all high rises skip from 12 to 14. I've always thought that's really dumb, but there you go.
How about Tokyo... Any 13th floors?

Ah, Jack... Got it!
James, that is too friggin' weird. Well, I guess, not any weirder than skipping 13 I guess. Clearly it's all cultural.
Too funny.
Just so you know, I stayed on the 13th floor of that hotel I told you about. Never a worry!

The reason Chinese people don't like 4 is because the Chinese pronunciation for 4 and for death are very similar (and this is true for several dialects). Four is therefore associated with death.
The funny thing is that in Malaysia, the Malays like the license plate number 4444 because they say it looks like four persons sitting cross legged, doing nothing.
