Crucial has 512MB for about $50 and 1GB for about $105.

The Apple website states that the memory and airport express card must be installed by an authorived service tech. I'm guessing there is only one memory slot.

On the Apple website, the 512MB is a $50 upgrade (fair) but the 1GB is a $225 upgrade.

Shouldn't 512MB be plenty? I only have 640 in my PC.
640 is probably enough, but considering it only has one slot and the hassle of getting to it..I would bump it to a gig now so you wont have to worry about it in the future.

Interesting... I may have to push off my plans to get a PowerBook a couple more years or so. Or indefinitely...

I'm still skeptical that Apple will sell Intel architecture ports of MacOS... I guess we'll see in a couple of days...

I really think this is "another" project.

iPod inventory concerns on Apple shares

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Shares of Apple Computer Inc. (AAPL.O: Quote, Profile, Research) fell 5 percent on Friday, fueled by an Internet report of swelling inventory of its iPod digital music players.

The decline came after appleinsider.com, a web site that discusses issues related to the company's products, said Apple is "overstocked on most iPod models with about a month remaining in its third fiscal quarter." The report cited unnamed sources.

"Apple is believed to be sitting on its most significant inventory of iPod Shuffles since the player hit the market in February," the web site said. "According to reliable sources of information, tens of thousands of iPod shuffles remain idle in the channels this week alongside a good number of iPod photos."

=

Gene A. Munster, an analyst at Piper Jaffray, said that any excess inventory of iPods, if true, would not concern him, because the June quarter is seasonally the weakest of the year. Over all, he said, demand for iPods remains strong. "What we're seeing is seasonal weakness combined with better production," said Mr. Munster, who has an outperform rating on the stock.
