Mac Daddy

I look forward to dual boot Macs. This will make it easier for some to justify making the switch to Apple if they don't have to dump all their windows stuff right away.

Didn't Apple make something like that once? A PowerMac with two processors, a PowerPC and an Intel processor, so that you could dual boot Windows and MacOS. (This was in the 486 or early Pentium days, IIRC)

I'm banking on the future trend of retro computers.
<-- Poised to cash in selling my Vic20 with 3k RAM and 300 baud modem.

I do think Jobs should not have shown all his cards at this time. They will need to support PowerPC machines for some time. He could have announced that they would be adding Intel based machines to their product line due to the lack of a suitable G5 chip for PowerBooks. Then let IBM and Intel race to make better chips.
Waiting to cash in.....I have my brothers original 1986 128K 7" screen Macintosh from incoming class of Drexel University (they were the first in the nation to require every incoming freshman to purchase a computer) It even has a Drexel D logo stenciled on it.

Hang on to that one. I remember playing a vector graphic summer olympics game on these machines and being blown away!

No, Apple and IBM invested into a PowerPC chip that was going to be able to emulate an Intel processor, while still maintaining it's PowerPC abilities. IBM's product was being marketed as "Blue Lightening."

My drummer has a proto-board. He did most of the backplane FW for the chipset. We should box that thing and fire up Windows 3.11 and see if it takes.

I recently threw away an old mac. Not valuable but one of the early microscopic monitor and CPU combined.
