What's For Dinner?
HI Gina, my mother did make those breads like you show, they did not use sprinkles on them though, but they did have the egg. My mother would have fennel in hers. Portuguese make similar ones too (my wife's family) using sweetbread. My mother would always make a crust filled pie using ricotta cheese and egg, kind of like a quiche but better, a touch of fennel in the crust too.
hotos: that came up, hers was kinda a sweet bread too! Never heard of the ricotta pie but I love ricotta
Yeah it was very simple, ricotta and eggs mixed together and put in a pie shell , touch of fennel seed in the crust (if you liked it), no sugar, man it was good, baked until the top was brown. Yummy.
