For 17 mph over the limit ??

I thought that was pretty expensive ..... same ticket in the UK would cost about US$50 I think !!

But in the UK it is the points on the licence that are the biggest deterrent !

 

Wow, my last ticket was $95 including "driving school." I was able to take it over the internet. I the ticket before that was $65 because I went to court and did not have to do traffic school.

I guess there is an advantage to living in Chicago.

 

20km over here is around $50 I think.

 

Do you get points on the licence for speeding ?? If so, how long do they last ?

In Japan 3 points for upto 30kmh over .... they last for 3 months, but 6 points and you get a one month ban ......

In the UK it is also 3 points for up to 30mph over the limit, but they last for 3 years, and 12 points gets you a ban ...... more than 30 over the limit and it is an immediate ban .....

 

very similar here...I think you start with like 12 or 15 pts...and for example this latest ticket of mine is 5pts..the most you can get for one ticket

How long do you lose the points for though ??

I lost my licence in the UK for being caught at 105 mph in a 70 limit ..... I only lost it for 2 weeks (long story, but should have been 3 months) .... but that cleared the other points off my licence, meaning I started with a fresh licence after the ban

(It was a nightmare for the insurance though !!!!)

 

I think 3 yrs here too....

 

We don't even have a point system here.
