Well, if you think americans are afraid of speed, then you definatly have to visit the Chicago area. This place has the most aggressive drivers per capita of anywhere I have ever been. The people in Wisconsin really rag on Illinois drivers. They think we are all speed freaks.

Not trying to make you feel bad, georgous. Just saying it's different here.

and actually I have heard something like that about Chicago, that and that it takes forever to get across the city!

Well, depends on what you mean by "across the city."

If you are downtown, then it's not too bad to get across it east-west, but it is pretty long north-south. That can definatly take a while.

Most Chicagoians consider the city as a much larger area (for example I live about 35 miles from downtown, and have never lived any closer but still consider myself a Chicagoian.) There is a lot of traffic, it definatly helps to know how to navigate the area to avoid the traffic hot spots.
