yum,
I don't care for the Japanese beers - too light, too many nitrates and too much sugar which gives me a hangover. Last night I could only drink 4 Sapporo Extra Dry (ewww, yuck) before I felt nasty.
However, two nights previous, Ms.WT and I had no problems consuming (and functioning the next day) 4 pitchers of

No Chazmo, Sleeman doesn't export... to my knowledge.
Real Ice beer is not light. In fact it's made stronger by low cooling and letting ice crystals form on the surface which are then scooped off. The ice is ONLY water so it makes the beer stronger.
It's an old German invention and not new at all. I can't say for sure what-the-f they're doing now to call it "Ice".
oink oink
BTW... I do like Japanese beer. I think they do a pretty good job.

I haven't actually had a Newcastle in quite some time. I think I have to do something about that!
John, that's a pretty cool history lesson on the ice beer. I'll be the modern "ice" beers are nothing of the sort.
I've taken to some of the malty beers lately. Japan's Sapporo company makes Yebisu, which I like. Also, Singha from Thailand is a malt.
Definitely my tastes have changed over the years. Back a few, all I'd drink were Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stouts. OMG, a great beer (if you can call it that), but it's about 17,000 calories and heavier than a king size prime rib! I really would like a good light beer, but there aren't any.
