BTW -- I know an AP2 owner with the 4.57 and he said if he were to do it again, he would go with 4.77.
I like the idea of the stronger 4.56 gears over any of the "OEM" style gears (4.44, 4.77)

Fock, why do you have to keep making sense Pete?
By the way, the easier way to figure out your cruising RPM is to multiply whatever you have stock by 1.163 (for 4.77). If, for example, you're spinning 4200 RPM at 80 (which I think is what an AP1 does), going to 4.77 would give you about 4850.

Honestly though, it doesn't look right for an AP2... something doesn't at least. No way the top speed went from 170 to 150 from 03 to 04.
The AP2 with 4.77 gears would be spinning just under 5000 RPM at 80 MPH. The only risk I see is that if you have a droning exhaust, 5000 tends to be the sweet spot (and by sweet, I mean deafening).
<---doesn't have a droning exhaust... (it rattles, not drones, and that's at closer to 2500rpms).
Just wonder 5000rpm wouldn't be too bad... my concern was the motor spinning around 6000rpms
do i need to go with a reinforced diff ?

The stock AP1 was geared out at around 170. The fastest I've ever heard claimed from a stock car on level ground was 153-155 on the speedometer, which is probably more along the lines of 149-151. The car just didn't have the power to push 6th gear. You might remember the video of the guy going balls out down a huge hill and pushing 270 KPH and bouncing off the rev limiter, but you needed the gravity assist (or FI) to get there.
