stock, no s2k will reach 168 due to drag limitations not running out of revs. The AP2 is not missing 1k rpm with the same gearing as an AP1, I don't think Honda would make that drastic of a change in the gearing to screw up the top end that much on an AP2. Going from a 170 to a 150 mph top end is a big change. The AP1 and 2 should both be seeing the same top end roughly, so losing 20% of top end should be the same.
Let me tell you, from 150 to 160 was quite a bit of time and road.

From a dig and from a roll?
I might have to gather some Mid-A members to test this theory.

Eh - I wouldn't be so sure on that comment.
Haven't driven an AP2 with 4.77's - but have driven both an AP1 with 4.77 and AP1 with Comptech Supercharger... they were no comparison.

hell..my stock ap2 walked on my friends evo on a highway pull...
(because he mishifted..

I agree on the 168 top speed. Granted, I wasn't stock - however I did have my Comptech Supercharger 12psi AP1 up to 160mph once, stock gearing. I was sitting at approximately 8900 rpms. My rev limiter was set at 9200.

- I think on my computer I have an inside the car view of me hitting 151 - outside the car view of when I did 160, but you can really hear it... not see me anymore
before i hit the rev limiter at 153 i was still accelerating
there was one argument against gears saying that if you shift at redline you end up right in vtec in the next gear
basically having gears is like being a half gear lower all the time

I agree with Mocky - I guess it's not as common the AP2's. However anytime I shifted by AP1 at redline I was already in vtec in the next gear.

i'm going to hopefully get a set of 4.77s before wtd... good place as any to test them out
i guess the point was that even if you don't get gears you will end up in vtec right in the good part of the powerband if you shift at redline, so the money for the gears is just being spent to be a half gear lower
