I was worried about someone else putting the first mark on the pretty car and getting upset about it...................so I did it myself
It's not bad and I'll get a pic. The left front fender is creased and has about a half dollar size of paint chipped out at the top. The contact was so slight I didn't think the damage was that bad until I got out. The other car just had a tire spin mark on the vinyl. If the lips of the wheels were just a little wider and I didn't run 3.0 degrees of camber in the front the fender wouldn't have even been touched. We were both going through a right hand corner (I was on the inside but about a foot too far back to legitimately have won the corner) at about 70 when we touched.
It was a GREAT race and even though there were 27 other cars on the track and battles for position between other cars it seemed like everyone was watching our battle. I think every NASA official found me after the race and congratulated me and Todd on a great fight.
I dove in and tried to pass on the inside. It didn't work so I backed off and followed for the lap. The following lap was the white flag so I had to try or I would never get another opportunity so going into the same turn Todd defended the inside and I tracked out to the outside and drove around on the outside of the turn to complete the pass. I kept the 2nd place for about 1/3 of the final lap but then he passed me back on the back straight and won the position back. So there were two passes on the last lap of the race which capped off a great debut race. Unfortunately this time I didn't come out on top so I have to do better next time.
That will get fixed before the next race in Mid Ohio on the 22/23.
ReedZ---if NASA NE accepts my provisional license I'd like to race at Watkins and possibly Lime Rock and Pocono. I have to see how many races I can fit in the budget but Watkins should be on my list no matter what.
