Thumbs up Homer J's Meltdown Madness

I'd like to start a new run for next spring and am looking for some input. How short is too short, how long is too long? Is it totally unacceptable to drive on major roads? As some of you know I work for Exelon Nuclear. We own Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station in southern York County, Three Mile Island in Middletown, and Limerick Generating Station in Pottstown. I'd like to coordinate a run between all/some of the plants, ending in most likely Harrisburg @ the Appalachian Brewing Company. There are some awesome backroads all through the possible run, but I wanted some input from everyone as to whether or not they were interested, and what would be a reasonable distance/time length. Please help me out!!!

I am in and my wife will come solely because of ABC, loves their beer. A two hour drive or more is not uncomon. There are alot of lancaster, york, lebanon, hbg people who probably join as well. Add this to the Central pa susquehanna valley board as well. Maybe do it this year before it get's to cold .

Here is some advise I was given when I was planning the Lehigh Valley Run:
1) 2 2 1/2 hours or approx. 50 miles is a good run. Could be longer is there are fewer cars or shoter with more cars.
2) Try not to make too many left turns, especially on to busy roads.
3) Try to find a good place approx. half way thru the drive to stop for pictures and a pee break.
4) Main roads are OK as long as the group won't get spit up too much but back roads are better for the obvious reasons.
5) Find a meeting place that is very accessible, ie. easy for people to find and get to.
6) Don't tell EJO when or where, he'll just show up and crash his car into guardrails.
I'm sure paulieblks2k, MikeS2k, jfo, freq and others can give you some good pointers and ideas.

I am in for this, ending at ABC is a great idea I also love their brew. Whenever I am in charge of a corporate function I chose this location, they have a large room upstairs we could commandeer. As for the drive Eric has most of the points covered, I can deal with a few miles on main road but much prefer the uncrowded twisties. The one suggestion I do have is to start very early on a Sunday. Most folks sleep in or go to services, Myself I prefer to be one with the car and road a spiritual event that revives me for another work week. I would say 2-3hrs or driving with an equal dose of drinking and socializing

Let me know when this will be asap, so I can prep my car and forget about the run the next day. At least my car is getting a full look over more often.

That's two and a half hours not twenty two. I couldn't stay awake to drive 22 1/2 hours without a cooler of Red Bull in the car and about 20 pit stops to pee.
