Default Korean BBQ Meet

Not to hijack the New Hope Run Picture thread, I thought I'd start up a thread here about doing another run in Spring '09, but ending up at a park and doing a Korean BBQ meet.

I think a bunch of people have already signed onto the idea. I guess what's left is to organize said meet, and get a grocery list going =)

So who's coordinating the next meet? cuz, I'm cookin!

Probably would be much easier to buy a gallon jar of kimchi, but I doubt that the group would be interested in kimchi. It'll probably be like 2 or 3 people all over the kimchi and the rest will go, "what is that smell!!!?" But everyone really should try it at least once. However, it's definitely an acquired taste. The store bought stuff is pretty decent anyway.

I'm pretty familiar with the Allentown area, but if the meet ends towards philly/bucks area, then I'd probably have to take suggestions. It would be ideal if the parks had a pavilion/or bench tables and a couple of grills close by. If no grills, I have one of those portable butane gas stoves that I could bring, but we could probably use about 3-5 grilling stations and others with portable gas stoves...

Nockamixon has picnic areas and charcoal grills, however they do not allow alcohol.

Nockamixon State Park is along PA 563, just off of PA 313, five miles east of Quakertown and nine miles west of Doylestown. The main entrances are along PA 563 and can be reached from PA 309 and PA 313, or from the north on PA 412.

That sounds pretty good. As long as a park has a decent picnic area and charcoal grills, it can definitely be much easier. I guess the question is how many people want to drink as well? hehe...

any of the state parks around the area would have the same setup.

there's nockamixon which has been mentioned, fort washington, ridley creek, french creek, evansburg, etc. they all pretty much have the same rules as well.

as for pavillon area, they have grilles, but the pavillons are on a first come first serve basis if no one has a reservation. if someone has a reservation for that pavillion, then it is theirs, even if someone is already there.
