What about Vorhees, Medford, Mt Laurel, and Moorestown? All nice areas.
yep, all nice towns. still surrounded by slums/depressed areas.

Look, I'm all jersey boy, but there's no escaping the fact that PA is a better place to live. less congested, less slums(goes with congestion), and the nice areas are almost always nicer in PA. Granted, it's hard to get nicer than a place like Princeton, but even Princeton is surrounted by the likes of Trenton and such.

i believe camden is rated the worst county in america.
so you're thought on the surrounding areas might have been influenced by camden unless you can say you've lived in the other areas such as cherry hill, marlton, moorestown, vorhees, haddonfield which are all next to each other.

i'm not disagreeing with you or trying to pick a fight. i've never lived in pa.
i'm just trying to say that south jersey isn't all that bad.

And right smack in the middle of all of it is the biggest shithole of them all: Philadelphia, which produces the most assholes per square mile than most other cities. I'll take South Jersey.

Philly is shitty, yes, but Camden is shittier.

Also, Broil, you realize Cherry Hill is in Camden County, right? So is Haddenfield...

Ya, Also, I suggested he move west of Philly, not into philly. Good lord, I wouldn't advise anyone move into philly. City wage tax anyone?

It won't matter if he is working in Philly, since he'll still have to pay the wage tax. I guess my advice would be to move somewhere other than the Delaware Valley, given all of the comments in this thread.

ya, try the Susquehanna Valley. No jobs, but a beautiful area.

No, I jest. We definately want you in DelVal, I'm sorry I suggested that PA was a better place to live than south jersey and I'm sorry that I suggested not working in Philly. It's not like I've lived in both places(PA and South Jersey) and it's not like I've ever worked in Philly either(2 years consulting for law firms in center city)...

But ya...

I live in Marlton currently and grew up in Medford and Shamong. Not ever having lived in the Philadelphia suburbs in Pennsylvania, I can't comment, but I completely disagree wtih SLW. Camden, though, is a shit town even though they keep pooring money into it to resurrect it.

As you stated, coming from LI, property taxes will not be a huge deal, but you will pay higher taxes in Haddonfield, Moorestown, Voorhees, and the east side of Cherry Hill compared to Marlton, Medford, and Mount Laurel.

Sicklerville is a growing area, but one side of their schools are not as good as the other. The closer to Burlington and Camden counties is the better Sicklerville area. Williamstown is a bit farther south of Sicklerville and puts you right on 42. Easy route to Philly but heavily congested. You'll get more home for your money in those 2 towns, but they are a bit more rural when compared to the towns I listed above.

What is important to you when it comes to a town? Good schools? Lots of restaurants (Collingswood is an older town, but nice, and has great restaurants)? Parks? Lack of congestion? Lots of stores around you?

I live smack dab where Route 70 and 73 in Marlton intersect, so I like having everything around me, and being no more than 10 minutes from almost anything I want/need. But I obviously live with more congestion and shit like that.

Good luck with your search.

Erik you make some great points. Being that I couldn't care less about school systems that's not really a main concern for me. I know Camden sucks wind trust me I've heard enough about that place from my friends that live in south jersey to write a novel. I would like someplace thats not to congested but not to rural either. I don't want to have to travel 1hr to get to the store. Like I said I'm gonna be there this weekend to look at some houses and areas.
