Default Need some help

Had my "idiot" moment last night when I decided to put the top down for some crisp, fresh evening air. Well, I should have known better but since it was a little chilly I had a "Crack!". Then when I put the top back up there are two cracks in the plastic window, one running down the center about 2.5 inches and the other along the bottom around six inches.

Does anybody know what a quick fix might be instead of replacing the entire top? Anybody had this happen before and use a local shop or something? Thanks for the input.

There is "clear" duct tape available now. Bought mine at Wal-Mart. You could also look for large sheets of clear 3M, thicker and more optically clear than duct tape.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Did you at least attempt to warm the interior before lowering the top?

The interior was warm. I had just parked it for a minute to drop some videos off and then got right back in. I was thinking that clear packing tape or 3M would do the trick, or maybe when I can afford it just retrofit a MY02+ top for the glass window. I appreciate the help, thanks!

Driving into work today the heat seemed to be pretty contained in the car regardless. I thought I might freeze, but luckily not...

DOH! Have you talked to the service manager/ general manager at your Honda dealer of choice? There are a number of TSB's on the top...push for replacement!

Did the same thing last week. Unfortunately, none of the TSBs deal with the plastic window. I was able to get mine replaced by calling Honda Customer Service, after HondaCare denied my claim (car was purchased certified pre owned a couple of weeks ago). Here's my thread from S2000 talk, there's some useful info there:

dcq, I saw your thread earlier today. Thanks for the link. My car is out of warranty (certified pre-owned) but I'll give it a shot with my dealer to see what they can do.

Same with mine....it's an '01 as well. I was referring to the CPO warranty, not the initial warranty. Unfortunately, I've heard that the top is considered a wear item and not covered under any warranty, but again, a quick call to honda customer service and it was covered for me. Whether that was due to the fact that I had just purchased the car a couple of weeks earlier, or because I got a nice rep, or some other reason, I don't know.

My cracks were in the same positions as yours, but much larger...almost all the way across the bottom and up to the top.
