Driving with my MS3 (snow tires) and I see an AP2 Suzuka (I think) stuck at the intersection ahead of me. Upon closer inspection I see it's an older gent, and his rims are wrapped in RE040s.... This was approx 9am in the morning.

I went up to him (with my now expired S2k Gold member card in hand) and told him to visit the site, and we can answer any questions and point in the right direction for snow tires.

He said to me he had a miata previously, and was thinking about trading in the S2k because presumably he can't get around in winter.

Friend, with Re040s i'm suprised you got anywhere out of your driveway.

I'm sorry I didn't push you out but where would you go? You wouldn't be able to drive up the hill you were facing.

Besides I had a mother to pick up

Mister Suzuka Blue, if you read this, we can definitely point you in the right direction. Blizzack WS60s on all 4s or LM-22/LM-25 front/rear (or rear/front?) should do the trick sir.

Those WS60s just got a great write-up in the April issue of Car & Driver.

I think I'll get those next time. Maybe for next winter, now that I have a nail in one of my M3s.

I had a set of ws60s and they were fanfriggintastic....in the snow. However, in dry weather these tires drive like a boat. Though I can't comment on other tires for comparison or reference, I just went by the writeup on tirerack. These tires go really fast though.

I'd like to try some LMs, but I don't think there is a set of 4x LMs that fit the s2k, as LMs are meant for sports cars. Gotta do the LM25 and LM22s...

i am a big advocate of buying beaters... why spend 500+ on tires when you can get an old civic or something for a grand? then you have another car to rely on in case something happens or you just dont want to drive your S in the snow. the price difference is well worth it.

just my 2 cents

Insurance though! I guess it depends on your policy. I borrow my brother's car (I gave it to him, he has to let me!) when the weather is specifically poor (like today with all the snow still on the ground). Today was actually my first time driving the neon since owning the s2k and it was... lackluster to say the least.
