Good point.

I've never dealt with a rider in an accident, only when the goods got stolen.

It's also called an endorsement, an addition to a standard policy covering something in particular. They're more common in life insurance policies, but you can get them for an auto policy to cover expensive additions to the car, typically stereo equipment, or personal injury protection on an old car.
