It may not be the tire rubbing unless you can see where the tire actually rubbed. Check the little plastic flap in front of the front tire. It looks like an air diffusor of some sort. I thought my lip was scraping and my tire was rubbing but upon further investigation i found it to be this little plastic flap.
Yup this is the piece that I am talking about removing, nothing to do with the wheel hitting (Yet). Can I remove this piece, what the hell is it?

Sparks!

dont quote me on this but i remember reading something about these pieces and their functionality. I believe they help to keep the vehicle stable at high speeds by moving air through the underside of the vehicle, like a diffusor. This is from what i can remember, more research would have to be done to verify.

It's there for aero but people have removed them. Shouldn't effect anything street wise. You can always use them as early warning signals you might crunch your bumper.

Those flaps in front of the wheel are not the same material as the wheel well liners, they're more of a rubbery plastic composition. Don't worry about them rubbing, the bend and flex very easily, and will eventually shave down to a more acceptable level

Definitely DO NOT remove them, as Jeremy said, they're there for higher speed aero. They help keep air from hitting the front of the tires and going underneath. From what I've heard, without them the steering could get noticeably lighter at speed.

Damn mine went down low as $hit already, there is only a one finger gap in most spots and thats if I give it a good wiggle. The flanges that hang down before the front tires that seem to be made out of the same material as the wheel liners scrape now and then. At first I thought it was my front lip, but there is no way. Are these important? I'm planning to remove them.

Handling had improved. Going into work today there is this one corner that usually causes some decent body roll, and I kept pushing it with no role action!!! Loved it.
Those two front strakes in front of the tires keep the car stable at high speeds. They will scrape if your low enough. Just take everything sideways and you will be ok. You should have seen how I used to drive, it was stupid. I was always sideways going into a parking lot. I never scraped the Spoon once.
