Default American Hustle

I caught American Hustle last night.

The story is mostly, but loosely, based on the ABSCAM stings from the late 70s and early 80s. It was a real-life clusterf_ck then, and this movie captures that in an awesome way.

The acting from nearly every cast member is outstanding, and worth whatever award nods they get. My personal favorite though, being Bradley Cooper playing a scumbag that's a 180 turn from his silly Romantic Comedy persona.

Story-wise, it holds together well, having good peaks and troughs, with only one or two near-dead parts in the middle.

There are no special effects, so you don't need to see it on the big screen, but it will make for a good night out at the movies.

Saw it about a week ago with the wife. I agree with your assessment 100%. Great film, great acting, nailed the look and feel of the time.

I loved the title at the beginning of the film "Some of this actually happened".

I agree! The acting / wardrobe was perfect. I enjoyed it! And yes Bradley Cooper did amazing, along with the rest of the cast.

Loved it.

Bale does not get enough credit for how good he is. Amy Adams was also great, as well as quite hot.

Anyone else think Bale was doing an impression of De Niro?
