Default Oldboy

Was it even released in the US?

Certainly not mainstream fare or the stuff I'd usually pay

i saw it! no never released in the US. what a WEIRD WEIRD movie. They are planning to remake a bunch of korean movies, US film companies bought the rights to a bunch and what not and Oldboy is one of them. however, im guessing they will make substantial story changes, because that movie wouldnt go over well in the US

The DVD is out. I got it thru Netflix last week.

The film had great reviews from all the film sites so I had to check it out. It was certainly interesting...hehe

The director, Chanwook Park, is definitely talented. I saw another earlier film of his called 'JSA: Joint Security Area" and I enjoyed that as well

Another Korean film I recommend is 'Swiri' directed by
Je-gyu Kang

The Korean film industry is really gaining momentum with the likes of Park leading the way

Hollywood is taking notice...I think Oldboy caught the eye of Nicholas Cage and he's going to star in the remake. I dont know..the Hollywood remakes of these foreign films tend to end up inferior to the originals

Asia is where movies are at now, not Holywood.
