Pan's Labyrinth
Yes. This is a MUST own DVD. I did get to see it in the theaters and went back to see it two more times with different friends. It was done very well. There is still a lot of people that do not know about this movie. So spread the word.
great film. I saw it in theaters when it came out, then the next week watched "Volver" both were incredibly good. I love foreign films, I was pretty excited that both of these were well received.
Guillermo del Toro directed another movie in a similar vein that I liked called "El Espinazo del Diablo" or "The Devil's Backbone"
Took place in roughly the same time frame but in different location, a little creepier but a good movie.
IMO people don't give foreign films enough credit, theres a LOT of cinema gold out there if you aren't afraid of subtitles.

I just saw this on cable. a masterpiece of imaginative writing, well cast, well shot, superb special effects and haunting to say the least. I give it a 9 outta 10 and recommend it.
This is not a happy film, it is a serious look at events in a little girls life that ultimately lead to terrific tradgedy. It is told with fantasy and interesting fleshed out characters.
