Default post your healthy recipes here

I am fat. I have lost 10 lbs in the past two weeks just by cutting out junk, but have more to lose.

I am trying to watch what I eat - yogurt or fruit for breakfast, small lunch and something for dinner that is low in fat and carbs, and easy to make.

I am getting sick of grilling chicken and steak every night - what are you people making?

I have several things I eat, but none of them will drive your tastebuds crazy.

I do not eat breakfast, and generally microwave one of those frozen Uncle Ben's chicken and rice bowls for lunch. Only 300 calories, but somewhat filling and tasty.

Decent omlettes can be made with three eggs (but only one yolk) some of the Morningstar farms sausage flavored "recipe crumbles" which is in the vegetarian frozen section. Basically a bag of fake hamburger made of soy protien. Add the eggs, fake sausage, a bunch of tabasco, and a chopped pepper and it is not bad. High protien. I only use olive oil spray if I fry anything. The veggie "Chik Patties", "Better'n'Burgers" and corn dogs are all not bad, really. Try them. You burn out on them fast but they are decent to work in once in a while.

I also buy boxes of turkey burger patties and grill those with garlic salt. They are pretty good. Don't know if they sell No-Name brand steaks in your area but their salmon fillets, while small, are good to grill.

Chicken breasts tend to be a staple but can be made to taste different if drowned in a good buffalo wing sauce, or I like Famous Dave's Texas Pit bbq sauce. A chopped chicken breast, a few boullion cubes, celery, onion, carrots, a potato and a small handfull of no-yolk egg noodles makes a decent soup. Chicken Jambalaya made with a box of Zatarains is yummy.

For me though, four workouts a week is all I need and then I can eat whatever I want. Its keeping to the schedule that is the hard part. Find something fun. My brother, who is a computer nerd by trade, got a $300 dance pad and some Dance Dance Revolution games for his XBOX and plays an hour in the morning before work. He LOVES it, even though he admits it is dorky fun, but has lost 20 pounds in two months.

I still try to eat well, sometimes, but I find I am alot happier when I can eat what I want, workout and still look good. I am the opposite though, I have never been big (although I could lose a pound of chubble currently) I have been more the skinny pencil neck. I am 5'6" and my "natural wieght" would be 120 soaking wet. I had a girlfriend in highschool tell me I looked wimpy. I have hit the weights hard since then and weigh 160. I carry forty extra pounds but still basically fit in the same clothes. Working out is not always fun, it sucks sometimes, but I liked what I saw and loved the extra attention from the ladies that I had never had before. Completely worth it.

Healthy recipes are fine but my favorite recipe is 4 hours a week+ lots of sweat = eat what I want and extra attention from the females. If that does not work for you, just dump lots of sauces and spices on the bland chicken breasts. But dump snack chips, baked goods, sugared soda, ice cream and fast food. Chipotle, Noodles and Company, or Subway are ok.

Good luck brother, I am subscribing because I can alsways use some good food too. But if you decide to go the workout route, the first month is the hardest, but after two solid months you won't recognize yourself in the mirror, but will be totally fine with it.

whats up buddy

thanks for the advice, I HATE working out but I guess I need to - the love handles just gotta go. I got fat when my wife got pregnant, and now she looks great and I am still fat! WTF!

I will go for a few of your recommendations - about the turkey burgers though - I find they have lots of fat in them, even though they are turkey burgers. I cant find a brand that has under say 10g of fat per serving.

< Morningstar farms sausage flavored "recipe crumbles" > - this sounds risky - but it will be in my freezer by the weekend

there has to be more health-concious people here - let's see some of your tips too

Tabasco is your friend. I like spicy and I find it makes lots of bland stuff taste better.

The turkey burgers are not too bad and much better than regular ones. What I can't figure out is that they are always real high in cholesterol, but it does not tell you wheter it is ldl or hdl. But I always hear dieticians on TV recommend them. I also hear that the best way to dicipline yourself is to take the regular portion that you would normally eat and leave 1/4 on you plate. I can't seem to do that one.

A lot of that vegetarian stuff is lousy but some is actually tasty, you have to experiment. It aint cheap though.
