Jesus yes, I'm with you there. I would have been robbed and naked, left for dead on some remote planet

Excellent show and movie. I saw the movie when it came out, then recently watched the series (got it for Christmas this year), so when I watched the movie on HD DVD it had been long enough that it was still pretty fresh for me. I also wish they could make more...but it's a bit out there (and never seemed terribly professional), so I'm not surprised it was canceled from national broadcast TV. It definitely seems like more of a cult following type of thing.

I think it could have done a lot better on TV. Fox gave it the death slot from the get go (9PM on friday's). I think it really would have taken off on SciFi, too, if they had been able to secure the rights from Fox. It's certainly better than some of the shows they show on SciFi, imo.

One of my favorite shows for sure! Also liked battlestar gallactica!
BSG is awesome. They pay homage to FireFly, too. You can see Serenity fly by in the mini-series, during one of the on-planet scenes.

You can still see Serenity in the fleet now and then, hopefully it survives the chaos that will be season 4 coming up. The special effects guys on BSG are the same team that did Firefly and Serenity, so thats why.

That show is smart and funny and the cast is outstanding...way did it fail on Sci-fi or whatever channel it originally ran on??
Because Fox screwed it over, that's why. Long story, and now water under the bridge. But if there was any way Fox could have sabotaged the chances of the show, they did it. They aired the episodes in the wrong order, started the series right in the middle of the baseball playoffs (which then pre-empted it), changed the timeslot several times, refused to show the pilot episode until after they had cancelled the series -- you name it, they did it.

just sad

my mom is a fan now too and her and I were talking that if it were pitched now and ran along with shows like Lost or if it was an HBO type of series it would well. I think it was written too witty and with a tamber too sophisticated for the environment and climate back when it aired originally.

I dont classify it with shows like Carnivale or Deadwood or Rome but it would appeal to the type of person that also enjoyed those shows.

At least it does exist and we can enjoy what we have.

I am glad to see that others here also enjoyed it.

I can't recall how times I have channel surfed all the useless cable channels and come across it and just watched it to the end regardless.
