I agree. A complaint I have about rock'n'roll biopics, is they sometimes show too much. There comes a point where I'm telling myself: "I get the point! He's a alcholic/junkie and he's trying to get over it. You don't have to show me his ups and downs 10 times!!".
Read the book and you will see.
As a friend of mine said, for as DARK as Johnny Cash' life was, the movie was awfully nice and up beat.
Good movie though
Saw it last night. The movie was pretty good. I knew who Johnny Cash was but never heard of any of his songs until last night. I really like his music but not the duets with June. Only thing I am not sure about is why didn't his career take off to higher levels compared to Elvis Presley? Was it because Cash mostly did a mix of music where it is rock, country, blues and gospel where Elvis is rock. Phoenix did a great job. I was told that he nailed the imitation of Cash with the moves and singing.
