I agree. A complaint I have about rock'n'roll biopics, is they sometimes show too much. There comes a point where I'm telling myself: "I get the point! He's a alcholic/junkie and he's trying to get over it. You don't have to show me his ups and downs 10 times!!".
Problem being is they left out quite a bit of his life... If they would have shown all his ups and downs then you would really be complaining I guess...
Read the book and you will see.
As a friend of mine said, for as DARK as Johnny Cash' life was, the movie was awfully nice and up beat.

Good movie though

Great movie, worth checking out whether you're a J.C. or not. I personally am and thought both the lead actors were excellent.

I can't wait to rent--missed it in the theater. I hope I'm not disappointed like I was with Crash

Saw it last night. The movie was pretty good. I knew who Johnny Cash was but never heard of any of his songs until last night. I really like his music but not the duets with June. Only thing I am not sure about is why didn't his career take off to higher levels compared to Elvis Presley? Was it because Cash mostly did a mix of music where it is rock, country, blues and gospel where Elvis is rock. Phoenix did a great job. I was told that he nailed the imitation of Cash with the moves and singing.
