So, I'm doin' pretty fucking good!

How are you doing, Chad?
My boss is trying to talk me into buying a camera that is worth more than my next paycheck... pretty shitty

I'm thinking about picking up something.

One of my close friends is a big photographer, does a lot of car shows / events, weddings, modeling, etc etc.

This weekend we were up at Imports vs Domestics at MIR. My girl and I were staying in a hotel where he was and he left his camera in the room where we were partying. So, like the whore I am I decided to grab his camera and start taking some shots.

Found it semi-interesting and have been thinking about picking up something for myself. I'd like a nice camera, something that takes good quality shots - not some cheapo $150 walmart special.

At the same time though, more than likely I'll pick up the body, fish eye lense, regular lense, and call it a day. The camera will probably never leave automatic settings, so I don't need anything with a real fancy mumbo jumbo and excellent manual settings.

Trying to think of what would be best.

$100 doesn't get you much of a camera.

The entry D-SLRs will probably be overkill for you, but you'll need them for the fisheye. The Nikon D40 or Canon Digital Rebel XTi would be your choices; both are in the $600 range.

Note that a good fisheye lens will run you several thousand dollars.

Might have to devote more than 1 paycheck to get your camera.

Alex (Poindexter) thinks that I should pick up a used 20D - personally myself and Subby think that it's a bit of an over-kill and the Digital Rebel is fine.

What's the difference between the XT and XTi though?
